BlackHole – Auto File Sorter privacy policy
BlackHole works entirely on your PC. It does not collect, send or share any personal information. It has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it does not need an internet connection.
What BlackHole reads on your PC
To sort your files, BlackHole reads:
- the files and folders you drop on the hole, and the loose items on your desktop when you sweep it or turn on Gravity: their names, types, sizes and dates;
- your Windows folders (Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Videos, Music and Downloads) and any folder you choose, so it can move files there;
- file icons and thumbnails, to show them in the app.
BlackHole does not open or analyse what is inside your files. Windows supplies the icons and thumbnails it shows, and BlackHole reads a file's contents only to copy the file when it moves it to another drive.
What BlackHole stores, and where
Everything stays on your PC, in BlackHole's own app data folder:
- your settings and rules;
- the activity history: the names of the files it moved and the folders they moved between, so you can undo a move;
- the list of items waiting in the Event Horizon.
None of this is sent to Jotech or to anyone else.
Deleting files
The Event Horizon deletes the items it holds after the time you choose. By default they go to the Recycle Bin, where you can restore them. They are deleted permanently only if you turn on that option in the Event Horizon page. Rules you set to "Send to the Recycle Bin" also use the Recycle Bin.
Your choices
- Clear the activity history: Activity → Clear history.
- Remove all settings, rules and history: Settings → Reset everything.
- Export your settings and rules: Settings → Export settings and rules. The file is saved only where you choose.
- Uninstalling BlackHole removes its app data folder from your PC.
Microsoft Store
BlackHole is sold through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft handles payment, licensing and downloads under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Microsoft gives Jotech only aggregated statistics, such as download numbers, and crash reports that do not identify you. Windows itself may send diagnostic data to Microsoft according to your Windows privacy settings.
Children
BlackHole does not collect information from anyone, including children.
