AutoShorts – Faceless Video Maker — last updated October 12, 2026
AutoShorts is made by Jotech. It is built to work on your PC: your scripts, voiceovers, recordings, imported photos and videos, and finished videos are created and stored on your device. We don’t run accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking, and we don’t receive your content.
What stays on your PC
- Video projects, scripts and settings.
- AI voiceovers — they are generated on your PC by an on-device voice model.
- Microphone recordings you make for your own voiceover.
- Photos, video clips and music you import.
- Exported MP4 files and cover images, saved wherever you choose.
This data is kept in the app’s local storage on your device. You can delete projects one by one, or everything at once in Settings › Storage. Uninstalling the app also removes it.
When AutoShorts connects to the internet
- Voice pack download. The first time you make an AI voiceover, the app downloads the open-source Kokoro voice model from Hugging Face (huggingface.co); for German videos it downloads an open-source Piper voice from the same site. Only the model files are requested; your text is never sent.
- Facts for a topic. When you generate a video from a topic, the topic text is sent to the public API of Wikipedia in the video’s language (for example es.wikipedia.org for Spanish) to look up facts. Wikipedia’s own privacy policy applies to that request.
- Stock footage (optional). If you add a Pexels API key and search for stock clips, your search words and your key are sent to Pexels, and the clips you choose are downloaded from Pexels.
- AI writer (optional). If you connect an AI service in Settings, your topic or article text is sent to the service address you entered, using your own key. If your browser provides built-in on-device AI, that runs on your PC.
- Purchases. AutoShorts Pro is bought through the Microsoft Store. Payment and account details are handled by Microsoft; the app only learns whether Pro is active.
- App updates. The app’s files are loaded from GitHub Pages and cached for offline use.
- Upload links. Buttons such as “TikTok” or “YouTube Studio” open those websites in your browser. AutoShorts never uploads your videos for you.
Microphone
The microphone is used only while you record a line with “My voice”. Recordings stay on your PC. You can turn microphone access off at any time in Windows Settings › Privacy & security › Microphone.
Children
AutoShorts is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
